ECUAD Spring 2016

T.He Final Semester at Emily Carr University of Art & Design
I started off the semester thinking what kind of strong hollow geometric forms can be made without using lots of material. Referencing coral, I played with the shape of a pentagon, seeking to create lightweight forms that played with light and shadow. Instead of using glazes, I tried using acrylic paints and bioluminescent pigments, which introduced unnatural hues to the earth-toned clay world, illuminating otherworldly ideas.
Alongside some experimental clay creations are a couple of paintings that I completed during the semester using acrylic paint and bioluminescent pigment.
really digging the texture of this scrap piece! so much colour!! must find more knotty wood!
Fish & Bird, 2016 ... playing off the Fish & Bird drawing I drew way back in March, 2010 (viewable here)
The collection of paintings I showed for midterm.
'Moonscape' on display under UV light at Open Studios for Sequential Circus 18, January 23rd, 2016.
Oxidizing Rays, 2016 ... Grad piece! ~4x5ft plywood acrylic painting, suspended above the viewer with ceramics and a UV light strung through.
The centre structure of this jellyfish had various things pressed into its surfaces, like rocks and bolts.

Oxidizing Rays was installed for ECUAD's 2016 Grad Show.
